R1 Single Seater

As anyone who knows me will tell you [AlanMcD ] I am a bit slow in actually building my own cars.
I have plenty of project vehicles so to keep me on the right track I am posting details of my 'current' car build.
I bought a FF1600 Royale RP29 from e-Bay last year (thinking about it, it was the previous year!!!). The Royale was fitted with a Renault Espace engine and gearbox.
As I don't have a suitable Hewland and FF1600 x-flow to hand I have decided to fit a Yamaha R1 and chain drive differential instead.
I'm trying to use as many of the parts I have acquired over the past few years so some of my choices may not seem obvious.
I still have some of the parts from my previous Royale (deceased Doune 2002).
So far I have stripped the car to a bare chassis and am just figuring out where to locate the engine and differential before I fabricate the engine cradle and diff mount.
I have modified the rear hubs to take 4" pcd wheels (I have 10" wide split rim Revolutions in this size).
The car will be running a Quaife Mini ATB LSD with single inboard disc and a 4 pot Fireblade caliper (already built up by me).
My plan for the Christmas/New Year period is to get the engine, differential and rear suspension fitted.
Doug.

Nice one Doug --- get it out there!!, we need more old Formula Fords with bike engines in the back to keep those OMSs, Forces and Jedis on their toes

Maybe we could resurrect the old private BEFF sub-class of the 1100's

Sorry Alan - did not have an on-board video that day - in fact I hardly have any pictures of that car at all - it only lasted two days

What happened to the bike engine Mini you were building??? Is this car going to be ready for the 2010, 2011, 2012 or 2013 season?!

It's under a tarp next to the garage and the ZX10 is in the nice dry garage

It will be ready some year with a two in it......

and if anyone asks - the Austin Seven Special is still on the cards for making an appearance at Bo'ness (but I won't be too specific which year).

So that only leaves the two GTMs and two TiCis to schedule....

Today's progress on the Royale has been confined to me sketching the chassis and engine position on my CAD system.
Well most of the time was spent learning the ins and outs of the upgraded TurboCad program.
