Racing Car Classes

Purely Hypothetical at present but

A Racing Car by definition is a car used for racing: a car used, designed, or adapted for the sport of automobile racing.

So my question: If someone has a saloon car which has been adapted for Racing and meets all the Regulations what is there to stop it being entered in Classes that Currently are filled with Single seaters?...............yes i know you are thinking 'why would you want to'?

The answer is in your question . Single seater ! no room for passengers in a Racing car. I also think there may be a reference to open wheels as well

Absolutely!

For speed events, a racing car is not what you may think it is, it's what the Blue Book says it is.

As well as other regs that would preclude this;
Maximum height 900mm (even a GT40 is taller than this), maximum width behind front wheels of 1400mm to name but two.

and isn't there something about if you cut the car down the middle, each half should be a mirror image of the other. All this of course assumes we are talking about MODERN race cars

I have seen several clubmans cars (Mallocks & Visions) with their cycle mudguards removed running in single seater classes. I have also seen photos and film footage of Talbot Lago sportscars doing the same thing in circuit racing.

However the idea of a "saloon car" being run as a "Racing car" is a bit far fetched.
