renault 5 gts - yamaha r1 conversion

Hi everyone!

I have just found the forum and was wondering where it has been hiding all this time.

I am building (slowly) a bike engined r5 for sprints/hillclimbs/and trackdays. I'm currently saving for my roll cage then hopefully fitting two r5 maxi rear wings for breathing purposes.

Hopefully i'll get some pictures up soon.

Thanks for the welcomes guys, i'm a motorcycle tech by trade so the bike bit is easy, the car bit not so much. I've got two mates working for caterham, a guy in car parts factor, my mate at work who is a yamaha fan too and a guy who's a mobile mechanic. Just need to collate all the experience now and save up!

Looking to set up my own bike shop at some point so hopefully be able to move the car in there. :-)

got some welding to do this weekend, just a bit of rust to get rid of, and finnish stripping the car down.

My old uni professor may have come up with an engine but its not really what i'd like (955 daytona engine) so will have to have a think

dash out to get at loom properly

that'll be a new sill then...

plastics all off

started to weld in the new sections and repair a bit of rust, but run out of weld. Dopey me forgot to check how much i had. I'm not at all bothered about how the welding here looks as it'll be under the body kit.

The project won't be always updated as my xantia project, my bike and keeping the vitara running eat up my time and money haha.
