slight deviation to the title now. Not using the R1 as advertised now... engine found, a 1200cc triumph triple in need of lots of repair, but only 40 quid

well, turns out it is actually a 900cc engine. still usable, with a small supercharger.

hydraulic clutch as standard, triple torque which is nice.

had an opportunity to have a better look at it now, had the sump off today and had a nose about. The chain tensioner has gone u/s which threw off the chain and i'm not sure if a valve is bent as i brought home the wrong tools to whip the head off.

there is very little swarf in the sump which is good but the oil was green, which could have just been from storing the thing.

Nice and clean sump


Not looking too bad down there, seen worse

If you can put vertical pieces reaching up into the crank-case it would also help (To stop slosh going into the gearbox area and the clutch basket area). As well as small lip facing downwards all along the edge.

on the back of the plate are areas to cut out or drill for the oil return, i did it on the back so i didnt confuse myself!

cheers for the info guys, i will have a look at doing that
