The return of Dyrham park hill climb

I have just heard that Bristol motor club have been invited by the landowner (The National Trust) to return to Dyrham park near Bristol next year (2nd October).
Apparently it was part of the British Hillclimb championship from 1963 to 1966 and has not been used since.

Anyone remember it ?

Yes, there were two lengths of hill.

800yds 1963, 1964 & 1966 Record Brian Eccles 4.5 Brabham BT14-Olds.30.05

750yds 1965 Record John Macklin 3.5 Cooper T56-Buick. 27.74

Sounds very interesting and as a NT member that should mean advantagious addmission charges.

It looks promising. The hill runs from the house to the car park.

If you think that, then I suspect you'll have a long think coming ;-)

I understand that Dyrham has been inspected by John Symes and there are no serious problems. At the moment the NT suggest an event towards the end of the season which might be difficult to fit into a full programme without a clash.

I think not, a colleague used that as a daily greeting when I was a youth. He was from Treacletown (Nuneaton) not the Teme Valley.

Have you got your application in for the job of Hill Custodian at Dyrham Park?

I'm aware that the NT may have their own man, although a little "consultancy" would't go amiss.

Not one to compromise ones position, options have to be left open having been approached by the head of comms from the "dark side"

Nothing wrong with the 'dark side' - I could be converted.

Just hope that I can get to the meeting at Dyrham and that it doesn't clash

You mentioned Eccles. iranoff now thinks that it is some sort of cake festival.

Add that to your Saga membership and you should get away with only paying a florin on the gate.
