We were told on the last few Longton events that strut braces were to be banned.

The MOT requirements are going to ruin 1B but what about all the rally cars fitted with fixed seats and everyone running after market wheels as these would need the airbag/srs systems de activated in some way ?

thats why i thought it was daft, can blame the EU for that. we've allowed it for years and now all of a sudden it's a no.

to be fair you could get around the SRS problem by removing it all, whose to say it came with it

Goosey,

I'm assuming your an MOT tester?

Whats your take on the new seat regs, I have found a copy of the proposed 2012 MOT Inspection Manual here....

http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/publicati...sandguides.htm

.....and after reading the information given at the top of section 6.2, would a fixed seat, with no OEM runner to adjust, be accepted as a specialised modification?

Also, it looks like you can't fail a car for not having an adjustable seat, just for the adjustment/locking mechanism not functioning correctly if it is fitted?

You are right on this, I was on an MOT refresher course a few weeks ago and asked about bucket seats and was told they are classed as a specalised modification and as they dont have a adjustment/locking mechanism you cant fail it for not functioning correctly.

with regards to 'b******s' please read the post correctly:

C&LMC Speed Championships posted these 'Clarifications' today:

The 2012 Clarifications have been amended to show the 2012 Blue Book changes that come into force on the 1st January 2012;
Clarifications for Road-going Series Production Cars

It clearly says C&LMC Speed Championships 'Clarifications' for the changes in the 2012 Blue book.
