Roadgoing Specialist Production Cars
Apologies if this question has been asked previously, I have done a quick Forum search and failed to find any reference to this specific topic.
I am interested to know whether or not it is permissible to change the type of gearbox and/or differential casing used in a Roadgoing Specialist Production Car? Reading sub-section 11.8 of the Sprints, Hill Climbs part of the 2012 Blue Book, it only makes reference to Roadgoing Series Production Cars in terms of casings and method of gear selection. It is silent in respect of Roadgoing Specialist Production Cars. Does this mean that there is additional freedom as far as the latter are concerned, is it a case of "if it doesn't say you can then you can't", or have I missed some clarification/correction that has been issued since the Blue Book was published? Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated. Thanks. Peter

following on from 11.5.2, As you can use any engine(1000 units) from a land vehicle, you cannot be expected to mate, say a V8 to a Fiesta box(example only). In my reading it would appear that transmission and final drive are free. but probably best to call MSA before spending oodles of hard earned!!

This argument was resolved last year over sequential gearboxes. You can fit whatever gearbox you like in specialist. This was clarified by Mr Symes of the MSA after much "discussion" between myself and Steve Garner, various scrutineers and club secretaries.
