Rollers
Is it still illegal to leave a car running in gear with its driven wheels rotating, whilst sat on rollers, to warm up the gearbox?

I would guess the Health and Safety police will have a field day with this query

Yes, a rule that says everyone can do it
![]() The main culprit is Donald Day who as a gesture to safety/compliance erects 2 plastic coated drying horses around the rear whilst merrily letting the back wheels turn round. He doesn't however use rollers. Last edited by Fireblade; 31-03-11 at 15:45. |

I asume you mean in the paddock?...............it could be construed as tyre warming which is against the rules :/

There was a rule that said it was ok so long as someone was sat in the drivers seat at the controls. Is that not the case anymore?

With the price of petrol
and the hassle of running the car in gear in the paddock, I am sure you could get an electical warming device sorted out if you realy need it.Cant you just use a thinner oil ? Allan |

You might be OK if you take the wheels off first.

K 14.2 says it's still OK as long as "all moving parts are adequately guarded" + "competent person is seated in the driving seat".
