Saloon Libre
The Midland Speed Championship intends to run a Saloon Libre Class within its championship from 2012.
Obviously this won't necessarily mean there will be a Saloon Libre class at championship events but there will be the opportunity to score within the championship against similar cars rather than against sports libre. Final details have still to be worked out such as capacity breaks and records. The feedback of potential competitors will be welcome. This is one of a number of changes in MSC for next season. |

We have run Saloon Libre for many years with great success, it certainly makes it a lot fairer for the tin tops the MSA kicked out of Modprod with their silly wordings a few years ago.

Although I'm a single seater competitor I have to say this is great news for the tin top guys. I think the current class system in libre stifles the appearance / development of "special" saloon cars inn hill climbing and sprinting.
This season at Harewood I saw some very frustrated people in saloons, Graham B in his superb Fiesta for example, struggle to compete against the likes of Radicals. If "Saloon Libre" became an accepted class my bet is that we'd see a lot more interesting tackle come out of the woodwork! ![]() Richard

Glad to here it, weve spoke about it up here, but the powers at be didnt get it together, well the sort of did, they made it in the rules that if a ford car then it must have a ford engine, silly silly rule. WACKY RACERS thats what we want.

I fervently wish that this will be supported but I have my doubts that sufficient entries will be forthcoming - I do so hope I am wrong!

Great to get such a positive response so quickly.
As I said in the original post it's a championship class at present as we can't force clubs to run the class at events but hopefully it's a start which might mean the clubs incorporate the class into events from 2013. |

I for one will be looking into this as it offers a good selection of events.
Also the Welsh Sprint and Hillclimb Championship. |

So long as your not the only entrant john. I was the only one in SL this year, and aside from a hole in my wallet, no trophies to show for it.
ModProd for me next year, unless there's significant numbers entered in Saloon Libre. Are MidSpeed mounting a sizable campaign to advertise the new class? |

Surely this is the best news for ages!?
I for one would love to see the tin tops in a Libre Class to allow absolute freedom to the constructors like Allan in Scotland etc and those with milder take on the modified saloon beit a tweeked Impreza with wings (and holes...) On a second count i think the other libra perspective, the likes of my Lola, Radicals, AD's etc will be a better balanced class too. Will there be enough entries? That may be tricky in 2012, but after? |
