SCAMMONDEN OCTOBER
Have just spoken with the Secretary at Pendle Club, their Hillclimb will NOT be going ahead on 15th August due to issues with the track owners, they are prepared to re-arrange the event with potentially 6 weeks notice. Iwill keep you updated via this thread.

Thanks Bob,
Thanks & best of luck to Pendle re. re-arranging. Hope it remains part of ANWCC hillclimb championship now & in future.

Thanks Bob,
Please keep us posted because I would like to add it to my list. 6 weeks would put us just into October. It is vital that they avoid a clash with the Longton Anglesey meet (16/17Oct) otherwise they will struggle to get viable numbers. Craig |

likely date for event
Latest information
The likely data for the postponed Scammonden is Sunday 26th Sept. This seems to avoid clashes with other NW events. Orgnaising club is Pendle DMC |

Count me in - I'm allowed Sunday's off for good behaviour.
Any idea if the regs will be available online - I've been trying the various Pendle websites/email adrs to no avail. If they aren't made generally availsble, perhaps the first person to get some could post on here? Let's face it, if we don't have the smaller/worse venues it will only put more pressure on getting entries at the larger/better ones & if you don't get an entry at the latter there won't be any point in moaning about it.

Forget the Pendle website, it is well out of date (the pdmc.clara.net website shows the 2001 calendar!) Contact Rod Brereton on 01282 859103. You can also email him on pdmc 'at' clara.co.uk I have spoken to him today. The July timing issues seem to be resolved. Craig |

For those who don't know Scammonden Dam, it is a very twisty Water Board service road running to the base of the reservoir dam. The dam is in Yorkshire, near to Huddersfield, VERY close to the M62. It is not a very prestigious venue, with awkward paddocking. Nevertheless it is one of the few hills we have in the north of England and it deserves to be preserved as a venue. “Use it or lose it” as a friend of mine succinctly put it.
The events tend to be small and therefore give good value for money. The organisers of the various events are MGCC, Mid Cheshire MC and Pendle DMC. Apologies if I have missed any other clubs. Many of you will have been adjacent to Scammonden Water and the hillclimb service road without ever realising it. The M62 passes over the dam. There a fairly distinctive overhead bridge just before the dam which I use as a landmark. It is also close to the ‘little house on the prairie’; the farm which is sandwiched between the two lanes of the M62 up on the moors. Attached is a photo of the dam under construction, courtesy of a Wikipedia page. Also embedded is a link to aerial photos of the above farm. 2 clicks North and 3 clicks East will take you to Scammonden. |

There is some debate whether the then-owners refused to move or whether the motorway bypassed them for geological / terrain reasons. Either way it is a fairly odd arrangement. Craig |

I have a terrible feeling we might have seen the last event at Scammonden.....it would be sad if that was true.
