Simon McKinley at Saint Goueno !

World class driver Simon McKinley will once again be demonstrating his remarkable talent at this year’s Saint Goueno hillclimb in Brittany.

In 2010 Simon thrilled the French spectators by waiving to them as he drifted the Lant sideways around the Fer à Cheval 3rd gear hairpin, the locals still talk about it to this day.

This year the public are in for a double treat, not only will he be driving the Lant single seater in the Masters event. . . . as an added extra he will be demonstrating his super quick sideways driving style in his 330 bhp Mk2 Escort.

Here is a reminder of how spectacular this guy is;

Saint Goueno is a fantastic weekend on its own, add the rare opportunity to witness McKinley in action and you have what promises to be the best hillclimb experience . . . ever!

With the rear wing scraping the Armco all the way round the haipin. We really need Simon and Marc Fluery on track at the same time. Now that would be entertaining. lol.....

I don't think Simon will be too keen on scraping the rear wing ... he now has D.R.S. fitted!

Are you allowed to compete or is it just demo runs for foreign drivers?

If I may help, as a regular competitor myself,

You can enter to "Masters" section as a Non French driver and participate in an event run to MSA or its Irish equivalent regulations alongside the French event. The beauty of this is the fact that you do not need to comply with most of the technical rules.

There is also the opportunity to run as a foreign driver in the French Championship event itself.

There are a number of us who have FIA "spec" cars and can try for points in the French Mountain Championship 2012.

Either way these events are as serious or as fun as you want to make them!

John Lloyd is the British contact for these events so contact him for the specifics.

Greg.

The GB Masters has also been run in previous years to a handicap system so you are also competing against other classes based on your handicap . I would imagine a similar thing will be done this year .
