Someone has to be first!
Correct me if I am wrong but what has happened to the Hillclimb Leaders battles of old? I seem to remember it going down to the wire at Doune for the final round with often three or more drivers only split by countback! What has happened to get into the situation where there are EIGHT classes where there were insufficient points scorers to warrant Second Place trophies!
If things don't improve I can see it going the way of the Sprint Leaders - down the pan!

welcome sprintperson. I did say in the welcome thread that the views of the membership and their ideas would be taken into consideration. After all it is the members that make the forum. Regardless of the title Uphill Racers, Hillclimbing and Sprinting are so closeley allied and it would be churlish to leave our sprinting cousins out. A lot of the current members have a sprint interest. So, if you have ideas, want's and suggestions. Your views on the Sprinting forum and maybe some suggested sub forums would be welcomed. The choice of forums is flexible at present and were placed there to get up and running.

Leaders Championship
So why did the Sprint Leaders go down the pan?
What would have stopped it? Is the Hillclimb Leaders in the same danger? Are there too many championships out there splitting the interest and loyalties? |

Answers and more questions!

Sprint Leaders went 'down he pan' as the organisers lost a large sum of money when the number of entries collapsed. The only thing that would have stopped the rot would have been more people registering. However with the Midland Speed championship gaining popularity I feel the sprint Leaders was doomed due to the much longer travelling distances involved. The Hillclimb Leaders will suffer the same fate IF and only IF the numbers registering dry up. What you have now are large numbers of registrations but not enough people committed to a 'full season'. In my humble opinion there are too many championships that can be entered. Take my area, the North West, we have Wigton's championship, Longton & District's championship, Chester MC & Liverpool MC championship, ANWCC's Championship plus there is the Harewood championship just over in Yorkshire. A lot of people register in two or three then as the season progresses drop the one, or ones, in which they are doing less well. So what is needed? Fewer Championships? Stronger regional associations that stop the minor championship's springing up by having the best selection of events? Or should we be looking to the MSA to give us guidance?

Never! Just get rid of the empire builders and get people who can't profit to organise it.
