Hi Shorty 2, I am very interested to know all about your experiances with the blackbird engine. I intend to stick with the blackbird, fit a acusump to improve lubrication, I also intend fitting better cams, what can you recommend keeping in mind that driveability and torque is more important to me than BHP.
Could you please send a drawing of the way you routed the acusump, what size of acusump, oil cooler size and route ,type of oil etc.
I really would apriciate all the info. I can get as I dont want the same thing to happen again. Thanks David.

Hi there, i will stick some pictures of my install up later, the spec of my engine was , big bore kit with JE pistons, ported head with kent cams HON18 cams, std bottom end rods etc with an uprated clutch/springs, a sandwich/baffleplate was made to virtually cover the bottom end between the sump and crankcase apart from the various pick up pipes etc, the sump capacity was increased by 'squaring' off the sump with alloy plate and welding it up, through holes were then drilled in the original sump to allow the oil to circulate in the sump.
The main gallery oil plug under the alternator was removed and drilled with a 12.5 mm hole and a jic connector welded to the plug to give a connection for the accusump.
The oil filter was removed and an oilcooler sandwich plate inserted between the filter and block ,this was plumbed to the cooler in 1/2" bore pipe, this greatly increases oil cooling efficiency, the original pump bypass small bore cooler pipes were joined together.
The original water cooling was replaced by using a davies craig electric water pump.
The carbs were modified and re-jetted , ign was std honda.
This all combined to give a very competitive reliable package which i used all season ,the next owner then used the car for another season without issues.

Hi Turbosam, mine runs on std. cams ecu and injection and no power commander. Rev limiter comes in at 10000 rmp.
Is your lubrication system std? do you not suffer from oil surge with sticky slicks. Is the engine std.

Hi David thanks for info, yes my engine all std even the exhaust system but the y piece is now straight through with one box on so far it gets through the noise check if I keep revs down oil system also std with std sump but filled up to a much higher level also oil pressure switch changed to 25 psi so far so good but like the accusump way have used them before great job,I also fitted a Barnet clutch and springs this makes for a sharp bite of the line that I don't like do you use std clutch, what its reason for removing the balancing shafts does it make any more power etc and have you ever had it on a rolling road ? I run my car in up to 1400 class so always playing catch up but keeps the young boys on their toes cheers Robert
