I would just like to point out one thing here, ALL of us pay a licence fee to race, clubs pay for track licences to run MSA events therefore one could say that we are ALL paying “customers” of the MSA.
Without the paying customers/competitors racing there would be no MSA?
Some of the regulations within Speed events DO need a good shake up as they have been jiggled and tweaked over the last 20+ years to accommodate trend changes/car changes etc but this has led to many contradictions, and discrepancies the Technical regulations which seems to be causing some of the issues in this thread.

I personally feel that the class structure is fine how it is, however the technical regulations need to be looked at and revamped so there is a:- no doubts as to where any particular cars should go and b:- a new competitor is able to build a car and know where he will be racing it.

I think I would be quite right in saying that at present the Blue book is full of Grey areas and contradictions that can be misconstrued or misinterpreted by competitors and scrutineers alike and common sense “SHOULD” prevail in all cases, however the MSA need to take some sort of ownership of these problems and make it a priority to address these issues within technical regulations that could cast doubt on eligibility of any vehicles.

The Technical department at the MSA are a great bunch of guys and very helpful, but they need US as competitors/customers to point out these “Grey” areas so they can be addressed and sorted out once and for all.

I am currently trying to put together a draft set of Technical regulations for a Sports libre class especially for the wild and wonderful saloon cars that grace our hills and no doubt draw in the crowds. This class of “Super Saloons” would encompass all the cars that cannot currently run under the Libre Special Saloon Technical regulations and instead are being thrown in with Pilbeams etc in Libre (g).

Hillclimbing has always been an exiting and innovative platform both for club motorsport and for people from all walks of life and I am sure that with a little thought and a big dollop of “common sense” from competitors, officials and the governing body hopefully this will carry on for many years to come.

According to the latest bulletin issued by my Club, the MSA are looking for nominations for members to be on various committee and sub committee's, including the sprint and hill climb sub committee. If after all the previous posts, surely there is some-one who thinks they can do better or get the previous points over better. An ideal opportunity for some of the
apparently disgruntled members who seek some justice.....

This is indeed a great idea on the MSA's part and I think it proves that they do recognise that the input from competitors is very important to help our sport progress.

I put my name forward a few weeks ago ( not as a disgruntled member I must add ) with our local Motor clubs as I would be more than happy to be part of a speed sub committee.

If I can use my 22+ years of Hillclimbing experience and many more years of Technical experience to help then happy days.

I may have mis lead some with my comment re the Scooby and SL, The car is a Mod Prod its just the driver wants to accurie a Open Licencse to allow other Mods to be done to the car that will cause it to go in SL.

Also sorry to be a kill-joy to a thread that has been read by so many, but the driver of the scooby has receivied a letter stating that it can run in its orginal class and that the scut was incorrect to "Ban" car from "All" hillclimbs in uk, so it looks like common sense did win in the end, but its been a great debate, if you want to see the letter speak to Phil at an event and I'm sure he'll tell you about it.....See you all at Loton this week end.........Bring sunshine and smiles and yets get back to what we do best.....HILLCLIMBING..........
