Thank you for your response, I only hope this gets put to bed a.s.a.p.

Are some of the 'extreme' Mod Prod Evo's & Imprezas getting moved accross into Libre because of their aero attachments?

In Libre folks need a National A Licence to go over 2000cc's (or 1428 with forced induction) unless the car is in road legal condition, so if the fancy Evo's & Impreza's end up in Libre, then they're not going to be able to compete on a non-race National B Licence or they'll have to be tax'd & MOT'd with road legal tyres, either way it'll likely spoil someone's fun.

Road going Libre sounds perfect, I'd need to slip some headlights back in the Mini though

Is there anyone prepared to say what actually happened to initiate this topic?

As someone who currently competes in a saloon in a sports libre class I would like to know if I should be concerned or not.

I see no reason why your hot Impreza needs to go into libre.

I always thought that transmissions are 'free', engine mods free as long as the class capacity is not broken and as you will be in over 2 litres you are safe.
Suspension pickups are stock impreza so ok, the only issue is the aero!

Remember that you need a Nat A open license to run over 2 litre in Libre.

I like the idea of Mod Prod Libre! That sounds a good idea and will allow the white hot cars real freedom to develop.

I'm with him on the libre front.....but you must remember to wear a puffa jacket and baseball cap when driving an Impreza! I say Mod Prod....and if its the aero thats out of kilter then remove it, it wont be worth any serious time in the car you're describing.
The sport needs 'saloon libre'....so many mags and other branches of motorsport encourage/allow engine swaps that we are marginalising a lot of potential competitors. There's no joy in racing a Vauxhall twink engined Mk2 Escort against a 1500cc Radical!

Colin M and Rob Burns did perfectly well with factory bodywork, and a good tarmac rally stage is much faster than any UK hillclimb.

Let Mod Prod Libre loose and anything can happen then and the class will be balanced, thus to take today's players:

Mod Prod Libre+ Puma 4x4, Short Quattro's, Mk2 Escorts with turbo Cossie engine etc

Would be a great class of cars!

Mod Prod: Evoroos with body work to current Blue book, trans free, engine block as manufacturer to class limits, suspension points to standard etc, ie Martyn Silcox's Impreza, Geoffs Impreza etc

It must look like a parade from wacky racers when Sports Libre takes to the track.

I agree - the spec of the Impreza would be compatible with Mod Prod and so long as the aero also fitted into the regs I cannot imagine why it would be libre!

AS FOR Mod Prod Libre give us a break! It is proving hard enough to get a set of Saloon Libre regs accepted so I guess you would have two chances of getting Mod Prod Libre in - slim & fat!

Guys
Do we really need more classes? I don't think so, many of them only have 3 cars in any way. I'm in Libra and I think I can see the issue with aero, rules are clear to me, no front wing above the front wheel rim height 14.2.2 but to my mind more in Libra the better
