sports libre aero questions

running the beetle in sports libre and want to start playing with the areo mods again, now i know the rules are all over the place with this but what i'm planing to do is change the profile of the wings on the car. this wont effect the silhouette of the car from the side view which i think is ok
will be putting a bigger spliter on the front which again is within the rules that i can find but also want to put a defuser on the rear, is there any limits to how far it can protude from the rear of the car? this is all being done so i can run a flat floor which will hopfully stop the car acting like a big wing, but working the wrong way for what i need.
cheers rob

Ours has been kept within the profile of the bumper, best of luck with convincing the officals what you do is within the rules.

Have the changes to the rules in this months MSA newsletter, made it any clearer as to what you can / cant do? I have a vested interest

I cant say they ever make anything any clearer.

Do it!
Where else can you be placed??
I was told by an MSA waller, "that sports racing cars can have a roof" ??????

My Old Girl's wing was way past the rear of the car!!

and just 'slightly' over 900mm from the ground

as you say, where else can you go?
i thought libre was the 'catch all' class for cars that didnt fit elsewhere?

The new rules in the newletter contain refreshingly few sentences. I don't think any of the libre cars are alowed anything more than 150 cm behind the rear wheel axis & it's only open cars that are restricted to 90 cm high rear wings.

If you slotted a 2 litre Duratec into a Lotus Elan Coupe where else but Sports Libre could it go?

Sports Libres that are currently competing that have roofs are:

Simon Bainbridge's Audi TT Replica; Ian Medcalf's Fiat 500 Special Saloon; Graham Miller's Escort-Vauxhall; Bernard's Escort Special Saloon; and the two Minis at Harewood - one with a 1.8 Rover K Series engine and the other with a Vauxhall 2 litre.

I am sure there are many more!

Once the transmission changes have been made over the winter (funds allowing) then yes the car will run in Libra.

The last time I looked, I'm sure I had a roof too
