I just don't understand how they can let 800bhp evo's without safety equiptment and Atoms which are totally open but wont allow a 1973 Mid Engined Clubmans car that produces 105bhp that is not open wheeled and built for purpose...............Rant over

MOT is the reason imho. If it has an MOT then insurance companies consider it fit for the road and hence an insurable prospect. Without an MOT, the safety and suitability of a car is a bit subjective, hence insurers (for the trackday organisers) have nothing to base their assessment on, so tend to disregard out of hand, hence a lot of the track days are road legal only.
totally agree thats its an odd situation, but like most things these days its lead by insurance, 'elf n safety and kill-joy nanny state rather than that increasingly rare commodity, common sense. |

I saw two virtually identical spec Focus turn up for a trackday at a well known midland circuit, both taxed, tested and road legal. One was allowed to run the other turned away on the basis that it had only a single drivers seat fitted??????????.

Is there anyone in particular to talk to at 3 Sisters or just a general email enquiry? Cheers Ian |

Noise limit is also an issue as many venues have a max permitted number of noisy days, the so called 'noise diary'. 3-Sisters is such a place. When I enquired they were looking for 97db (if I recall correctly) so decided that my car wouldn't comply. (I am not sue if they actually check noise) Craig Powers OMS 2000m |

I agree it’s a very good idea to get some testing in before an event, but there are a few things to think about beforehand. I haven’t been for years, but from what I remember:
3 Sisters has a number of course layouts. Don’t expect it to be coned off to one layout or assume anyone else present is using the same one as you & it’s surprisingly easy to take a wrong turning. It just needs a quick chat with other drivers to ensure you don’t meet anyone coming out of a “side turning”. Reaching agreement on overtaking, where you are entering and leaving the course & what everyone else is up to is a good idea to. So, give yourself tons of time to get set up & have that char before your hour starts. Don’t expect any marshals to be present, so if there is more than 1 car on track at once, someone could be parked broadside on at the exit to the next blind bend & there won’t be a red flag to warn you. Don’t forget to put on a pair of mirrors that work. Apart from seeing past the rear wing, vibration can be an issue. Also, don’t expect anyone else’s mirrors to work. If you only have a 1 gallon tank, try not to run out of petrol on track & bring a few cans with you. If it’s the very first time you’ve run the car then take at least one other person & the kitchen sink with you. If you fancy going along mid week in the near future & want some company PM me.

Dennis good info and thanks for the offer, I will post up a time and date as and when I book, anyone else interested would be more than welcome to tag along. Having never driven the car and it not being Raced since it returned from Germany in 2008 it will be a slow one lol

Im pretty sure they would let you run as they are usually very accomodating Its also a sprint course so its handy to get the miles in |
