Thank you all for the comments.
I asked around at Prescott last weekend and got the very answer that Barry has given.
There is a Sports Racer (type) class for pre 85 but no entries = it seems not to exist.

My Lola originally had a humble Pinto and Mk9 Hewland, one never saw a Porsche engine of any description from the factory.

When i was doing the car I hoped to run with the pre-85's as it felt more appropriate in my heart, but Tony advised me that this was not possible as the class was open-wheel only, so i dropped into the Libre over 2 litre.

Next year i will feel a bit foolish in the Libre Over 2000cc as there will be hot 4x4 Audi's and Imprezas everywhere. (I know to 3 at least) and my old banger (and old banger driver).

I'll talk to Tony at Loton and see what he thinks. I will get a direct answer for sure!

Could always convert the car to open wheel class.....

Perhaps you need to bribe Rodney Thorne and Colin Pook to enter the Midland next year in their MP43, and sort out the Audis/Imprezzas/Evos for you, Graham!

T'was never going to be a class leader, just a great sounding, well engineered fun car - drive the wheels off it and have a ball!

Cheers!

JW

To start a class for sports racers pre '85, I am sure Tony Fletcher would accept a minimum entry of possibly 4 cars. If we could get a list of possible candidates who feel they would qualify for this class I would be pleased to take it up with Tony Fletcher and Dave Boyles (Elegibility Scrutineer) and this would be a way to get Graham into the class with his Lola.

If Terry Clifford would support this class, I am sure the numbers could be got together, please let me know I don't mind doing the spade work with Tony Fletcher who is always amenable to fresh class structures.

Regards, Barrie

Yes I think it is, but if memory serves correctly I think Jos Goodyear had it inbetween and ran a BDA in it.

Now there's a thought!
For this year i was told the lads from Gurston would turn-up in their droves in the class, but one only at a Loton: (dark blue MP43)
So; if 4 sports racers say they will 'fill' the class ans only i turn up (in general) I'll get bumped to the libre class or I run solo in pre 85's?
Any info you can find out Barry will be appreciated. I will corner tony at loton in a few weeks time too to see what he thinks.
In the midlands Champ almost every event I've been solo, though that quick Puma is taking a liking to hillclimbs!

Out of the blue I've just been told that the moulds for the Karmann Ghia shell that went on this actual car is still intact....
Different colour though if i did it.

Didn't Phil Scragg do just that with a Lola T70 in the mid/late 60s?

Peter
Deryk Young did it with his Vision and the Blankstones likewise with their Mallock.

Mark:
I think you are right. If it is the odd-one-out so much the better I guess.
I cannot take the motor apart as it is so strong, and with a rolling road tune maybe 250 bhp.

Needs a focus on the driver and some serious Curb test days.
As Trish pointed out to me:

Can I stand running so late in the day (after the last top 12 have gone up...)

Graham.
