Titanium Wheels Studs and Nuts M12 x 1.5
A friend of mine in the States is producing M12 x 1.5 titanium wheel studs and nuts.
Ignoring the fact that they're not allowed in hillclimbs/sprints (!), would anyone be interested in a set? e.g. for your Elise, Exige, Caterham etc. They're beautifully made, and selling at $280 for a set of 20 x studs and nuts (plus shipping). If there is any interest, I can post up more details/photos etc. Thanks. |

I know aluminium / composite wheel studs and nuts aren't allowed - are you sure this applies to titanium as well?

I've not studied the regs for a while, but I had a feeling it said something along the lines of needing to be of ferrous construction? |

Interesting, titanium is well light, but the nut must be wheel specific? I had a Dolly Sprint and that had aluminium wheel nuts, early cars 3/8 unf ! Didn't last long at the tyre fitters.

Same here - later cars had 7/16" UNF which seemed OK as long as you didnt regualrly use a windy gun on them

Don't you just love the Blue Book - expect a technical bulletin soon.... I run studs on the front and nuts on the back. I cant say I'd save much weight with Titanium nuts, and I wouldn't trust Titanium on the front, way too much going on in my FWD car to be worth the weight saving over Steel. |
