The MSA are trying to keep mods to a minimum which is fair enough but I do wish they'd make it a bit clearer.

I think some of you need to go back and read the section along with the blue book, read what is there and what it relates to, not what you want it to say!!

I've done that and apart from it being a bit confusing I don't have any problems with what it says.

If you got a booklet specific to your chosen direction, Hillclimbs and Sprints in our case, then the need to search that book goes away.
Surely not that difficult in this Microsoft/Apple world we live in? Better still maybe, allow the book to be available on line (after buying your licence) and you can then cut n paste your own together and pass them on on this site! I bet there is a copyrite in there somewhere. |

Take it back to how it was.
1) Production Saloons: = Standard. No mods except maybe wheels tyres. 2) Modified Saloons: = Cars built around a steel shell with free mods (but no spaceframes) 3) Special Saloons := Silouette spaceframe specials. Can't get cheaper than using a standard car. to start with (well depending what it is) If you enjoy it then you progress and either modify your standard car or buy something else etc etc. It is a bit of a shambles at the moment.

I have started my 2 daughters off this year in the roadgoing production class up to 1400 in a standard year 2000 Mini Cooper. They are having a great time. Now over the winter they would like to upgrade to something else and go into Modifieds.
As I see it the Production class was supposed to be a cheap entry level to the sport to allow you to have a go in your road car to see if you liked it and allow people to compete without spending too much money initially. If you enjoyed the experience then the natural progression would be to upgrade to modifieds. Problem is with the open ended,un fathomable regs as they stand the Roadgoing Production classes now have some cars in them that are more modified than the Modifieds!! 500bhp Evoroos?? etc Lets not lose sight of what we are trying to do here.
