Vote of no confidence in MSA motor sport council

I am in receipt of Summer 2010 Motorsports Now magazine.
As usual I head straight to the Motor Sport Council, rule changes section.

What do I find?

The usual cock up of printed regulation changes.
They can't even get the proposed regulation changes to appear in the correct categories

Production car and modified car regs are mixed together - now reads as more nonsense than before......

Not got mine yet.

I'll contact Bletchley Park and tell them to get straight on it.

It gets worse...
The MSA seems to have ignored their previous amendment with respect to reverse gears

"The Motor Sports Association has issued a clarification of the regulation regarding the reverse gears of vehicles competing in Sprints and Hill Climbs.

From 1st January 2010, Road-Going Series Production and Road-Going Specialist Production Cars must have a reverse gear operable at all times.

For Modified Limited Production, Modified Specialist Production Cars, Hill Climb Super Sports, Sports Libre and Racing Cars, a reverse gear is not required.

This clarification has been necessitated by the implementation of mandatory categories for 2010 and will prevent the dilution of the Road Classes by competitors who are running Specials.
Release MSA10-008: 29 January 2010"

S 10.8.1 has only been edited with respect to "limited" to "series" production wording change - they have forgotten (ignored or rescinded?) to delete all Modified cars from the requirement to have a reverse.

It is only proposed for consutation and doesn't come in force to 2011.

You have until Aug 20th, the closing date for consultation.

Why consult with a document with so many errors...

... piecemeal changes to the regs are no use - they just create more anomalies and knock on errors requiring further 'clarification'.

What is needed is a complete blank paper re-write of the regs by people who know what the sprinters and hillclimbers want/need.

Ah so thats why the scrutes at Prescott made us all move using reverse gear. All of us in road going were a little puzzled at the time.

Yep -screwed up because they forgot to put in a bold heading separating the prod rule changes from the mod-prod changes.

i think you'll also find that for all those folk running in the production classes, the suspension requirements have been defined a bit better but clearly outlawing spherical bushes/bearings so all those with roller top mounts will now have to compete in modifieds!

Initially I think, though utterly confusing its layed out, it looks ok.
I completely agree with the banning of rose jointed suspension.

Am I right in saying that all drivers in roadgoing now have to have a cage If all these amendments pass?
Thats how it looks to me.

Ignore that last bit i've just re-read it.

Does ANYONE understand the Production/ mod Prod/and all the other versions of Production car segredation?

So confusing.
Little wonder these classes are dwindling so fast on the hills.

I think now you can have a prod car with coil-overs and poly bushes?

All you need to add now are a few sentences on TYRES and we can all go to the pub to discuss it till Aug 20th!

Glad to be in Sports Libre where anything goes.
Unless you don't have the 'secret' rules about bodywork that is....

Why do we not split the Blue book by type/

a simple all included booklet for each type, is Sprints and Hillclimb
Rally
Circuit
Grass Track
Karts etc etc.

Few people do all of the disciplines, so one book for us mere mortals to digest, and forget all the other clap trap.
