The risk is we will lose the people who want to run a cheap , but fairly quick car, but who cannot afford to build an all singing all danceing mod prod car. My 205 is on the pace more or less in 1B, put me in mod prod and i will be 6 seconds off the record in mod prods at harewood, without either scrapping the car and starting again, or spending a fortune on the 205 i will be out of the game. I dont think i will be the only one either. Not sure that is what we are trying to achive either.

With you all the way Steve, i only run the mini in modified because when i started (20 years ago) i didn't want the expense of tax and insurance on the race car, plus there were a lot more equal cars in the class back then, even
5 years ago there were much bigger entries of similar spec cars in my class. |

Not sure about the saving money bit in Roadgoing, some of the cars around on the UK Hills at the moment look like they have cost megga bucks. You certainly don't get 600bhp out of an Evoroo for peanuts.
My point is at the moment their isn't really an entry level class. Just out of interest here in Guernsey we run Production Road car classes as exactly that. Standard road cars in their respective cc splits and no mods apart from wheels / tyres. Very cheap to compete and very good close racing. Then if they wan't to upgrade into modifieds happy days. The main problem is you will never beat the "Chequebook" brigade I'm afraid in any class however making it easier for Joe public to have a go on a relatively cheap budget has got to be a good thing surely??

"Just because it doesn't say you can't it doesn't mean you can"
Modifications to components are prohibited unless specifically stated. Induction system is free doesn't mean 600bhp it means if it came with it then it's fine. i.e turbo, supercharger. These 3 statements in the Blue book seem to get overlooked. . . . . . .

I understand that Bunman, but most of the people that we would like to attract do like to modify there road cars to some extent anyway. The point i was trying to make was you can buy a old hot hatch, modify it relatively cheaply and just about stay ahead of some one with a new type R or clio 192 ext. Take away the ability to modify to a limited extent and you have to go spend on a modern car to be competitive.

If you want to go standard road,, fine, you will always have some competition. However, if you want to start modifying then you may finish up in a class where you dont want to be and thats when people start shouting foul. Most of this stems from competitors who come into the sport from the local supermarket car park, and that is fine, but dont start complaining if your car doesn't fit the class you want. As has been previously stated, the cheque book will normally rule. The rule regarding reverse should also be rigidly enforced, if it doesn't comply, put them in Sports Libre, bags of competition there. I would suggest that if every person who is dissatisfied were to go to BLUE BOOK HOUSE en masse, it would be impossible for them to tell the MSA what they wanted, because everybody will have a differant idea. |

A standard class is just about impossible to police.
