Weld in seat rails

Hello all, can someone please clear up an issue...

Im going to weld in some seats rails, i think its 40mm square bar and im going to weld entirely round the ends to the chassis, is it a requirement to have spreader plates welded to the chassis and then the bar welded to the plates?

Thankyou

It is not written as a rule that you must do this. But in fairness you would be mad not to use spreader plates, some sills on modern vehicles can be made of only 1mm thick steel, welding a 3mm wall thickness box section/ tube to thin sheet steel sill is never going to be that successful! Only my twopenniesworth!
