which events?
Hi,
between stripping the sidepods on my newly-aquired nemesis, I thought i'd take the opportunity to ask about races, champs and events next year.. excuse my many layers of ignorance, it's all very new... first things first.. i have a B licence and a 600cc single seater..It's my first season. I'd like to do as many prescott events as I can, and will be joining the Bugatti club...any idea how many events I'd be eligable for? 4 perhaps? In terms of other events, what's the best thing for me to do? I'm not sure I'll have the budget to do the complete HSA season etc, but I'd like to do Shelsley, Goodwood and Gurston at least. Is it best to join the champs so I'm at least eligable, or just try and get an entry event by event? All thoughts/advice welcome. Many thanks and happy new year |

I would have thought the joining one of the MAC, Hagley or HSA would be a far better bet and get far more invites than the Bugatti club.

Check out the HSA and the Midland Speed Championships and by joining both these 'clubs' you will be able to run at most English venues and the joint membership will probably be less than the BOC membership fee. The money thus saved will then help towards transport costs.

Thoroughly recommend the http://www.midlandspeed.org.uk/ at £20 (before end on Jan) it is a fraction of the cost of joining those other clubs and championships. it has has a possible 27 events at many different venues ranging from hills like Prescott, Shelsley, Harewood, Loton etc. to circuits like Croft, Anglessey and Cadwell as wll as other specialist circuits such as Curbourgh and MIRA etc.
also invited to at least 13 other non scoring events (list growing) at other venues etc.

Hi Rob,
It's £60 to join BOC, which I think is your home venue. I would think you would get invitations to all the Midland hills with that, and of course all Prescott events. The HSA championship and membership is £74, that includes 5 issues of Speedscene, to keep you up to date with all the championships. There were 5 600's registered for the HSA Championship that scored points last year and I think there will be a similar number this year. There could be one more with you. I don't think there is any B licence championship in England with more 600's entered. I would have considered Midland Speed, if there had been any 600's entered. 600's may get amalgamated on the day, with 1100's if there are less than 4 or 5 600's. However, if there are only 2 1100's they may be with us anyway. You only have one championship Prescott event with either Championship. So it's really what you prefer. Brian |

My recommndation is to join the HSA, and a club that runs a regional championship. This will give you a few venues and hence lots of experience. There is less travelleling than in a national chamoinship. Smaller events = better value for money than bigger national events, and is probably a compatible with your Nat B licence. At the risk of offending some on this forum, I have found Club motorsport to be a little more friendly than national events. For example, I am in the north west and take part in the Longton championship and in the Chester/Liverpool Championship. This gives me lots of events, I've met some great people and there is friendly but liveley competition. Thats my 2c worth. Best of luck and have fun. Craig |

Concur with the HSA. National B Championship with invites to all the spots you fancy. Well run and Speedscene is a worthy mag! Good Luck!
