Unless Ford have never made 1000 Fiestas in any year, ever, a Fiesta can't find a home in Roadgoing Specialist. S11.1.2 excludes any vehicle qualifying for Roadgoing Series from entering Roadgoing Specialist.

If that clause were not present in S11.1.2 it would allow engine swaps for series cars, since S11.5.2 does not require engines in roadgoing specialist to be original.

The the OP, unless you can produce some Ford documentation (e.g. manufacturer price list & brochure) to show it was a manufacturers specified option for the model, turbocharging it out of its capacity class puts you in libre as the clause about the original engine is also in the category definition for modified so you can't go there. That is unless you can find an event with class splits at 1500cc and 2300cc, in which case you can stay in roadgoing ( as 1600*1.4 = 2240).

This is, of course, a nonsense. That clause in S11.5.1 is IMO wrong and should be removed (ditto for S12.6.1). Capacity splits defined in event SRs should not have the potential to make a vehicle change categories from one event to the next.

I cannot see a problem with this XR2 TT running in roadgoing production to be honest, the TT conversion was offered on XR2 and Capri models from point of order at the dealership as an option. (No different to special colour schemes) We had 2 of them locally here back in the day.

Ford made more than 1000 XR2's in a 12 month period did they not ........

Lets not forget, Ford Fiesta XR2 is the base model after all, TT was an option.
As for the cc class argument you could action that with any turbocharged car. As long as the multiplication factor is taken into account when choosing cc class then what would be the issue.

That sounds waaaay too sensible to me....I'm sure the rules and regs doom and gloom merchants will be along to say its not right and he will have to go in SL and it will be allright because he will still have fun and he should build a proper speed event car if he wants to get involved....which is why areas of our sport are dying! A more free - rally type class system for road cars would be a great move.
