Depends on the co-driver and the relationship. In my case there wouldn't be a car to drive if it weren't for the old man and we both understand that a bad accident would probably be the end of our season to be able to fix it. In theory we should pay 50/50 (other than the fact that he owns the car) but in practice I think that he probably pays a larger share because he's an all round top bloke (fingers crossed he reads this )

Ensure clear understanding of who pays for damage. Bodywork fairly clear, but the crank through the block scenario, where the previous driver might have over revved etc., fraught with potential for ill feeling.
Even a faster driver had a use as you now know the car can go faster.

We enjoy it as gives good comparisons re times as we're in the same car, helps with time and costs in terms of travelling/car prep etc, you can share insight + the highs and the lows.

Re running costs you can share the outlay of replacements and upgrades. In terms of fixing the car we have a policy of wear and tear damage is shared, a crash is your own bill!

Double drives tend to either be extremely successful or extremely short lived.

Note that 8 out of the past 10 BHC championships have been won in double driven cars

That was about 10 years ago... very sorry

Actually , joking apart, our double drive worked quite well though not without incident (as above) Our times were evenly matched and. sometimes it came down to who went out on the warm tyres.

Ours came to an end when I ran out of talent in the rhododendrons at Fintray and our little OMS was no more.

I was lucky enough to be offered a double drive last w/e which I enjoyed, despite the "he who bends it mends it" caveat
