Surely less practice and more timed would be better..? Equally practice isn't practice if your not committed/focussed due to living in your mirrors or backing off to let other cars pass etc...?

Practice is practice, ie standing starts, building up the speed, learning reference points, etc

It's not watching mirrors, overtaking etc.

I run in the unlimited class, and my 1.6T is no match for the GR55's, and I've never been before so can you imagine the speed differential between me and the Calder's, or John G or the Lola during a session in the rain.

And what about visibility? No rain lights, never used mirrors before on the EcoBoost.

Love the idea of introducing something new, but not on the final round of a championship.

Bonkers idea.

I wonder if the BSC Co-ordinator has agreed with this?

I've just emailed LDMC to express my disappointment!

I only entered on Monday evening, but did that based on the original SR's

Whilst I can see what LDMC are trying to do, the proposed changes should have been part of the SR's for this event. I would have read the SR's and said "no thank you", and not entered.

Unfortunately, its not just a case of the cost of the entry. I've had to book time off work, and arrange for a colleague to cover my shifts. I can't easily change that now at such short notice.

I've also arranged accommodation where there is a penalty for cancellation at this late stage.

'feeling very disappointed :-(

I'd urge any other dissatisfied entrant to contact LDMC asap

I'm not entered and I'm glad as I have no mirrors, no lights, no indication, no brake lights and a Hans device so I can't look over my shoulder.......big risk

If they are trying to reduce the practice time used in the morning why not do a convoy run in batches with enough cars to run convoy batches 30 seconds apart and then give just 1 timed practice to get you in the mood and psyched up for the timed runs.

Better still, would be to put 1 Practice run in the regs in the first case. Then you know.
I'm not sure if they can do this kind of practice without putting it in the regs and possibly not allowed anyway.

Aren't we missing a point here? We enter sprint and hillclimb events to "race" against the clock and other competitors. There is already too little seat time involved therefore I regard practice as an opportunity to go as fast as I can while also keeping within my driving capabilities and (improving)knowledge of the course. I don't think having to slow down in practice could be considered as fun, competitive or in the spirit of sprinting! Also if we are not allowed to attempt to drive at competitive speeds in practice then preparation for timed runs is compromised. Speed should be something built up during the event from P1 to T2/3 surely?
If there is a problem giving competitors what they pay for and expect, then surely the problem should be solved at source, however painful that may be. If that means having fewer entries then surely the end justifies the means - better to have 120 satisfied competitors than 150 unhappy ones.

Rich
