MSA Model Definition from Techincal

The whole Model Definition issue has been issue since as long as I can remember with various different interpretations from one event to the next.
Although it appears someone has finally got a written reply from the MSA Technical department, although I haven't got a copy of what was sent or if any reply was made this was produced at Loton park for competitors to see:

So "Identical examples for at least 1000 produced in one calendar year" that would remove pretty much all Lotus's from Road Going apart from the S1 and possibly even cars you haven't though about.

So a model would be Clio 2 Phase 1 172 Sport (not just any Clio 2) or Peugeot 106 GTi (not just any 106) or a Porsche 997 GT3 (not just a Porsche 997) and so on a so forth.

I'm sorry, but you have clearly not read the letter above.

It states in black and white that the model is defined by the general lines of the model and the engine layout, that's it. No trim or spec is included. so any Clio is acceptable (etc.) other than that funny one they put the engine on the back seat.

Also, clearly stated above and in the blue book is '12 month period', NOT 'calendar year'.

There is no issue or can to open here. I wonder what the email asked? Not sure what the 'average' is on about.

It also clearly states "Identical examples" how is 1.5DCi Clio Phase 2 identical to a 172 Sport Clio Phase 1?

I agree about the 12 month thing but that is some what tricky to prove.

Because they share "general lines of the bodywork and mechanical construction and layout" perhaps ?...

Lotus Elise:

Lotus Exige:

General lines of the body work and mechanical construction and layout look the same to me but as per the e-mail they are not the same model.

Both the Elise S2 and the Exige are constructed from an extruded aluminium chassis with GRP panels bolted on, what bit are you referring to?
