ROPS (Again)

Quick question to save me diving for the blue book after beer. Do Mallocks have approved ROPS, or are they having to be changed for hillclimbs?. Also can you compete in a 1700 mallock on a national B licence.

Cheers

Rich

Pretty sure any libre or racing car over 1100cc requires a nat A licence from next season

This part is for Mallocks
K1.6.4.
Other Considerations
(a) An effective rollbar must be fitted with its top edge
not less than 5cm above the helmet of the
normally seated driver. It must be wider than the
driver?s shoulders at that height. It must be
constructed of good quality seamless steel tubing
of minimum 35mm diameter and wall thickness of
2mm. It should have the top bar straight or slightly
curved but no tubes meeting in an inverted ?V?. It
must be effectively braced to structural members.

Sports Libre or Hillclimb Supersports Class ?

Pretty sure about Class A Licence required in Libre, also it might be worth a local Scrutineer giving the ok to your ROPS , mine was found to be 1.1mm under, size matters

Ha Ha, great joke Andy, dismissing the whole ROPS argument of this and last year by digging up the reason why the controversy started. The MSA says K1.6.4 has no relevence to the regulations.

Pretty sure 1.6.4 is being / has been removed as it was ambiguous.

I'm not sure if the "over 1100" Nat A open requirement has been pushed through for next year?

Not great then, i was going to share with a friend, i have Nat A, but my friend has never had an MSA licence before and we were looking at cars we could share, i guess this plan is not going to work. And it seems the mallock fits neither the rollbar rules or Nat b rules.

Cheers

This might help on the licence question :

(S) Sprints, Hill Climbs and Drag Racing
Date of implementation: 1 January 2018
7.1.5.1. Any Driver competing in a Racing or Sports Libre car of more than 1100cc, or equivalent forced induction, with the exception of a pre’1994 Formula Ford 1600 in compliance with the period Ford regulations, must hold a Speed National A or Race National A Licence (H.16.1.1), unless the car is currently licensed for use on the public highway and competes in the event in a road-legal condition.
