Radical has a spectacular aura about Radical has a spectacular aura about
By definition it is of course a single seater racing car under 1600c.
In the open class

However, the good news is

a lot of clubs and championships used to run a class specially for FF1600 and some even for "classic" FF1600 so it depends if there are enough people still running theses in the events you are interested in as to whether they still cater for them.

The bad news is that they appear very thin on the ground at the events I go to (almost everwhere) so you have some homework to do.

Very early Formula Fords used the Cortina 1500 engine but soon changed to the Cortina 1600GT crossflow engine.

And is still used to this day (ignoring the zetec era).....

70s Formula Fords were 1600 cc crossflow engines built to very strict regulations ie no tuning/uprated parts

Formula Fords are class 5B in the northern speed regs so most events still cater for them, I've competed in five events in this class this year and there has been on average 4 in class so there are still a few competing, the engines are all 1600cc crossflows with very limited modifications.

I now have a bit more info:

The car is a 1973 Mid Engined Single Seater Clubmans Race Car fitted with a Blueprinted Kent Formula Ford Engine, The car has front splitter and Rear wing..............so now what class?

I have a feeling Sports Libre?

Radical is quite right. After all, that's the class he is in (Sports Libre up to 2000cc) at forthcoming Loton Park along with three Mk18 Mallocks (two from Guernsey) and the new Force LM001 of Graham Wynn.
