Once again the BMSA are pleased to have SBD Motorsport as the title sponsor of the 2008 British Sprint Championship their continued support is much appreciated. For 2008 there is a marked expansion with no less than 15 rounds making up the championship roster. Castle Combe makes its British Sprint Championship debut in March whilst the championship returns to Mallory Park for the first time since 1986. The championship now includes two rounds in Scotland however gone is Knockhill to be replaced by a ‘double-header’ at East Fortune – another venue making its Championship debut.
With the increase to 15 rounds it will now be a driver’s best 10 results that will count. There is also a sting in the tail for 2008 when the final round at Cadwell Park will carry Double Points in the Championship and in the supporting Foundation Cup. With 4 double header week-ends this year road mileage for competitors will be similar to those experienced in 2007. Finally the on-track package is improved once again with an average event mileage for the Top 12 Runners clocking in at approximately 13.3 miles – better than any other Speed Championship in Britain.
With the first round on Easter Monday the regulations will soon be available on the BMSA website (www.britishsprint.org).

It is an old airfield but I am told there is variation with undulations.

The Scots guys will be able to tell us more!

The track supports regular m/c meetings and, from a video, looks a good surface and well set-up pits/paddock area although it appears to be little narrow if you tried to run a car race meeting. A good addition to the venues especially up up up-north.

Radical has a spectacular aura about Radical has a spectacular aura about
East Fortune was used as a sprint venue in the 90s but was stopped due to a number of reasons, lack of facilities, cost, problems with land owners and it was very bumpy...

apparently the track has been substantially re-surfaced so the bumps have gone, and with the regular mc usage, plus other events, the other problems have been eliminated.

I look forward to driving it again as it should be a fast and varied circuit.

note it is not as far "up up up-north" as Knockhill, at least 50 miles and just off the A1

I've just had a look at the East Fortune regs (on the Lothian Car Club Site) and it would appear that there is going to be a 105dba noise limit at the venue........

If you've got some time between runs, then you can always wander over to the Museum of Flight, where there is a static Vulcan (XM597) and a Concorde (G-BOAA), amongst others.

Yet another "RACE" curcuit that seems to have a problem with racing cars, suppose the tin-tops will be ok.

I suspect the 'noise' of the sprint cars will be drowned out by the fairground / boot sale over the fence
(or maybe someone can light up the Vulcan bomber - bet that's loud )
