Thanks all for your contributions.

Although I have the standard sump I think I will top it up to level as per the previous post.

Whilst on the subject, which oil do you consider the best for this engine? I'm using Silkolene Pro 4 plus semi synthetic 5W-40.

Everyone has an opinion on this subject. I would use the Suzuki recommended, as they at least have some data.

Probably not with cut down sumps as used in race cars

You may find they don't suggest using bike engines in cars.

And what possible difference will the installation make to the type of oil? Volume of oil I understand.

My apologies, I mistakenly thought you were talking about the suggested volume of oil. Doh!

Easily done when secondary topic raised.

Regarding oil type and grade; my manual suggests oil type SF or SG. Apparently both are now obsolete. Times and specifications obviously move on and I assume some oils are better 'quality' than others.

We have a K8 with a Rilltech sump, we fill as per the previous instructions and use Silkolene Pro 4 10W-40 XP Synthetic. The 4 litre container seems to be big enough to complete the fill as per the instructions. The oil type was recommended by our engine builder (Daytuner).

Hope that info is of some use,

Rob
