I have known Tony since my first hillclimb in 1982. Being very similar characters we always got on well. During the years when I was looking for a driver quicker than me to share the DTA "works" car he always knew who would be quick and interested. I would never have approached Martin Groves or Paul Haimes without his advice.

I say this to emphasise how personally involved he was in the sport and his depth of knowledge of us as drivers and individuals. I for one will miss his presence and hope that his championship will change organisers and prosper as he would wish.
