Have the B Licence classes been dropped for 2018? I can't see them on the regs?

Hi, yes I understand they have.

A number of the events will have members or B licence classes running alongside the MHC so, hopefully, you’ll still be able to compete?

Keep totting up your licence signatures so you can upgrade to an A licence, then entry in the MHC is straightforward.

Cheers Steve

Too many B plebs diluting the elites, or not enough to make it worthwhile?

Hi

I understand that numbers were quite low in the B classes last year and I think the team who have stepped in to take over from Tony Fletcher are focussing on keeping the main aspects of the championship running. Hopefully there are enough B licence opportunities to enable newer competitors to really get bitten by the bug!

Cheers Steve

I stepped up to A1 last year Steve, so I'm ok. However I think this action might eventually come round to bite them. I think there's a strong loyalty to certain clubs and championships as a beginner and most move up within those circles. I don't necessarily see B runners collecting signatures in the HSA automatically seeing the MHC as the next step which means we don't gain younger drivers whereas the HSA continues to grow. I might be wrong but I fear I'm not.

I believe that 'B' championship entries have never reached double figures - last year 8 including Sam Wilson at end of season Loton Park and that he was the only 'B' competitor to obtain an upgrade signature all year. Tony Fletcher had suggested that the series was not achieving his hoped for aims and that very few drivers had progressed to competing in the 'A' licence MHCC, which attracted 150 registered contenders in 2017. The Championship Committee decided to not continue the 'B' series this year and to put all efforts into the 'A' championship, which I and others have been doing since October.

Thanks for the clarification Bill. On that basis I'm glad I got the signatures and upgraded at the end of 2016 as did Ali Lowe too.

Its quite cool being the most successful B licence holder with two Championships then :-)

Good luck with the running of the MHCC for this year, its really much appreciated.
