I've spent all year at Harewood being 6th - 8th ish in 1B depending on who turned up.
At the last event I got a 2nd, for which I was elated.
My first ever placing
Getting the award was a shock, but my wife's reaction was the best.

I am no longer having a mid-life crisis in her car.

I am now second best. I think there was a compliment in there.....

But I have a very nice glass on the bookcase.

Completely agree, whether an inch or a mile you've still beaten someone. If no one else in the class you can't win by either an inch OR a mile!

If a club didn't hand out trophies to classes with very few entries they would save themselves a few quid. If doing that the savings were passed onto the competitors in cheaper entries then great.

I think we all know that ain't ever going to happen.

Before you say it The MAC run some scheme or other offering a voucher for class winners instead of an award but that's not what I mean.

It would be nice to think that it would happen if clubs knew that folks were not expecting an award for a small class win. This was one of the reasons for the thread - to give clubs a steer in this direction. Seems however that I am in the minority here, which is fine.

The thread has also given some the opportunity to remind us all of their favourite award or moment in the sport which has been great.
