Eligible Clubs

In light of the 2018 Regs - Unless I have misread.

I understand that Gurston is not a round now but for many the BARC SW centre is still their club - whilst still wishing to compete in the Midland Championship. This is a mandate in order to compete in their test day for example.

Do I really have to shell out another £50-£100 and join yet another club which I don't need/want to in order to enter the championship for 2018 now the BARC SW has been removed. It just seems like a totally unnecessary cost.

Regards Adam

Hi Adam

I expect Bill Pardoe will be along very soon to answer this one!

(I think an option would be to join the Midland Hill Climb Championship Club - £5.00 per season?)

cheers Steve

Steve

Thanks Steve,

It appears that at present, joining the MHCC also requires membership to one of the three midland clubs.

Of course £5 to join the MHCC is perfectly reasonable - I'm not that cheap!

Hi Adam

Yes, it's a bit of a quirky thing - I'm sure Bill will resolve it!

The more competitors in the championship the merrier I say!

Cheers Steve

Hi I've just noticed this stipulation as well. I intend to to compete at Gurston as well this seasons will need a BARC SW membership. I already have a HSA membership, so on top of this I will now need one of the three "midland club" memberships as well?

I'd be all for joining the midland club for 5 pounds too if I don't have to join one of the others - but like Adam states it seems a lot of money to be spending on joining motor clubs to do different events / series across the country. Another barrier to new competitors?

I don't want to come across very negative - I love the sport and cant wait to get going this season. Just some feedback from a relative newbie!

Apex:
I expect you already have checked to see what clubs are invited to Gurston's meetings?
Often Club send out notices listing other clubs invited to meeting.

I could be wrong here, but the MHC Club @ £5 I thought was needed so the MHC could operate, the MHC was for the 3 Midland venues, hence the need to be a member of one of them.

I do not think joining the '£5 Club' means you do not have to be a member of one of the 3 MHC Clubs.

I have just done the lot:

Nat A Open Licence
Register for the MHC
Pay £5 additionally
Entre the events I will do up until the summer break (5 weekends)

You start to see how this is getting expensive.
