Ah, I wrote the name of a "famous online auction" site and this forum obviously wants to blank out any other internet page name..

Try V2 for helmets also.

Overalls. Again, check the Blue Book for the correct standard (don't buy a kart suit!). I bought mine off BTDBTDBTDBTD for £100. It still had the £349 label stuck on it.
You can get an unbranded white open face HANS helmet on E bay for £99 - made in China is all it says but comparing it to a Hedtec one it appears to be identical in every way other than the branding

No-one is suggesting a used helmet (you can also buy new items from the famous auction site). If the helmet meets the current standard, there is no reason why it would be less safe than something more expensive.

But does it meet the standard though ? Looking at the item mentioned above :
- the description lists it as a Kart helmet - SA2015 is not a Kart standard
- it lists the brand as Tuzo - there are no Tuzo helmets listed on the Snell list of SA2015 helmets dated 30/5/17

To me, that would raise reasonable doubt sufficient to not touch it with the proverbial barge pole.

Not quite correct it isn't all sites.. In the earlier days of this forum we had a spate of bogus members people signing up and leaving only a 'drive by' link for an item on the bay.

I am using one....as I said in my post...it's identical to the Hedtec helmet in every single detail and has all the approvals needed. I am not alone in using one and there is nothing wrong with it - some places are selling the same helmet for substantially more money. The Snell list on the web site does not seem to be very reliable and the date you see on it is the date you look at it not the date of the latest update. Snell only list 2 Hedtec helmets but Hedtec themselves list 4 different ones with SA2015. The site also has a little get out and says the list only includes lists supplied by the manufacturer.

I was always advised to buy the best possible helmet your budget could stand, after all you only have one head!
