Scammonden times

Is the Scammonden hill record still the time set by (legend) Roy Lane in 1975?

Yes that is correct. John Holsted got close in his OMS in the late 90's/early 2000's.

Dennis Doyle (rather quiet on here lately?) has an old web page which is still live and shows some "period" records, I'm quite chuffed to see that my up to 2000cc roadgoing (1a tyres) 27.73 record is equal to that of Mr Wallwork and his cossie, that takes me back.

http://sprints.tripod.com/scammonden.htm#Class%20Times

Roy's outright record is 21.97, looks like Gary T went close in 2010 with a 22.88.

More up to date scammonden times/records can be found in the results listed at http://www.timeteamtiming.co.uk/Even...s-and-Reports/

Cheers
James

Those times are indeed well out of date on Dennis' site. I can see several times at a glance that have been improved since then including the Sports Libre times

How bizarre, me and James were only discussing Scammonden on Sunday. It's a brilliant course, unfortunately when I went earlier this year there were no single seaters. I'd like to see someone like Richard Spedding run up the hill, with the small nimble raptor that would be interesting.

I may try get there this month, having made a few adjustments to the car, found a bit of power and better tyres since my first visit earlier this year. I'd like to think there's a high 23 second run to be had.
