At Bathurst the part of the track being used is closed (up the esses or the mountain straight) this upsets people you have travelled there to do a lap of the track at 60kph, also the event is stopped ta allow local residents to access their property.
All work pretty well.

I guess you are referring to Holme Moss, near Huddersfield. It might be held in August. We haven’t decided where the finish line should be but it will be approx 1.5 miles long. Plans have begun to celebrate 100 years since it first ran in 1920. Holmemosshillclimb.com will up and running soon.

7th of July was mid-week so I was thinking the 1920 Road Traffic Act but couldn't see the relevance.

First hillclimb on the road between Holme and Woodhead run by Bradford AC was on the 7th August. The course was 1.25 miles and Malcolm Campbell set the best time of the day in his Talbot beating Harold Clay (Vauxhall) and Eddie Hall (Talbot).

Steve

Do you mean the now repealed Roads Act 1920, when you mention the 'Road Traffic Act 1920' above? If so, this was enacted on 1 Jan 1921, see: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/...9200072_en.pdf

I could be wrong, but I think the first Road Traffic Act was in 1930, see: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/...9300043_en.pdf This amended/repealed various legislation including the Motor Car Act 1903 as well as creating new provisions.

Thanks
Mike

Hi Steve,

Jointly run by Huddersfield and Bradford, hence the initiative now ongoing.

Held 5 times in all. An accident injuring a marshal at Cop Hill lead to all on-road events being banned in early 1925 until the Birmingham Super Prix in 1986.

The first 1 1/4 miles of the 1 1/2 mile hill being run to allow safe stopping, turning and collecting before going over the crest. The recent Tour of Yorkshire and Tour de France cycle races ran all the way to the crest, before continuing down the other side.

Correction to the above - a spectator, not a marshal suffered an injury.
